Mission statement: Isla Magueyes is the main research and education dedicated to marine sciences in Puerto Rico. It provides access to the Caribbean Sea for students and researchers from UPRM to promote a greater understanding of the marine environment within the core areas of marine biology, marine chemistry, marine geology and marine physics. Isla Magueyes also provides support to research and education of visiting scientists and institutions via the Visitor’s program. This program also supports marine science outreach activities developed in the Department of Marine Sciences or those of other instititions.
