Mission statement: The Ecology Center’s mission is to promote research and education in ecology and to contribute to the restoration of natural resources and ecosystems. The center conducts original research, provides facilities and resources for researchers at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (including engineering, architecture, geosciences, biology, physics, mathematics, geology, chemistry, and education) and those at local, state, and federal agencies. The center promotes environmental education by providing various resources and facilities to UL Lafayette courses and to K-12 education partners. The center takes an active role in the restoration of coastal prairie by collaborating with others on restoration projects and by making prairie plants and seeds available for restoration efforts.
