*The Percent Outreach Effort number comes from the Outreach Survey and refers to how much time the station reported spending on Outreach relative to Research, Formal Education, Fundraising, or Other Commitments.

**The Outreach Survey was implemented between 2017 and 2019 and approximately 55% of U.S. BFSs responded (n = 223). The survey asked questions about field stations and their outreach programming (i.e., activities directed to the public that are considered out-of-school). Survey data are available as supplemental resources to the research team’s 2021 BioScience paper. Look at the research section of this web site for a full list of the publications based on survey data.
